...HEAT INDICES OF 100 to 105 AGAIN THURSDAY AFTERNOON... High temperatures in the lower 90s will combine with high humidity levels to produce heat indices from around 100 to near 105 Thursday afternoon. Some relief will come to a few areas as a few isolated to scattered thunderstorms develop. If you are active outdoors, take breaks, and drink plenty of non- alcoholic fluids. Those involved with children should always check the back seat before leaving their vehicle.

...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL AFFECT THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES... SOUTHEASTERN BALDWIN...SOUTHERN SANTA ROSA AND SOUTH CENTRAL ESCAMBIA COUNTIES UNTIL 745 PM CDT... At 638 PM CDT, the strong thunderstorm was located over Lillian, or 10 miles west of West Pensacola, moving east at 35 mph. Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph will be possible with this storm. Locations impacted include... Pensacola, Ferry Pass, Brent, West Pensacola, Ensley, Warrington, Gonzalez, Pace, Gulf Breeze, Orange Beach, Goulding, Bagdad, Lillian, Myrtle Grove, Oriole Beach, Navarre, Perdido Beach, Pea Ridge and Floridatown.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

...Hot and Humid Conditions Expected for Thursday... Temperatures are expected to top out in the low 90s by Thursday afternoon. With added humidity, heat indexes will rise to near 100 degrees in many locations. Heat of this magnitude, though not uncommon for July, can be hazardous. If outside, make sure to drink plenty of water, take breaks, and wear light and loose fitting clothing. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstance.

NWS Charleston (West Virginia)

...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL AFFECT NORTH CENTRAL RANDOLPH COUNTY... At 829 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located over Elkins, moving northwest at 10 mph. Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph are possible with this storm. Locations impacted include... Elkins, Beverly and Womelsdorf (Coalton). This includes Route 33 between mile markers 31 and 35. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.
