NWS Eastern ND and Grand Forks (Northeastern North Dakota and Northwestern Minnesota)

...ACCUMULATING SNOW SUNDAY... A disturbance moving across the Northern Plains and southern Canada will bring accumulating snow to eastern North Dakota and northwest Minnesota mainly during the day Sunday. Most locations will receive 1 to 3 inches of total snowfall from early Sunday morning through late Sunday afternoon. Portions of eastern North Dakota and the northern Red River Valley may see a narrow axis of heavier snow exceeding 4 inches. At this time the location of any heavier snow band is uncertain, so subsequent forecasts will need to be monitored as this system unfolds. Expect slippery roadways to develop Sunday along with brief visibility restrictions that could make travel difficult.

* Affected Area...Fire Weather Zones 227...231 and 232.

* Winds...Southeast 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* Relative Humidity...As low as 14 percent.

* Impacts...Conditions will be favorable for the rapid ignition, growth and spread of fires.

A wintry mix of snow and sleet will linger this evening along and south of Highway 34. Motorists should remain alert for slick roads this evening. Conditions could also become slick overnight from moisture freezing on road surfaces as temperatures drop. Locations impacted include... Burlington, Macomb, Fort Madison, Keokuk, Monmouth, Mount Pleasant, Carthage, Kahoka, Oquawka, Nauvoo, Bushnell, West Burlington, Hamilton, New London, Warsaw, Mediapolis, Colchester, La Harpe, Roseville and West Point.
